On This Date In '04, Sox Fans Voted On '03 Season Movie

The Horror, The Horror
For those of you who are recent devotees of The Carmine Hose, the years before 2004 must seem as distant as the Jurassic Period. Ah, but there was a time when the thought of our team winning a World Series Championship seemed as likely as Bernie Sanders taking a job on Wall Street (pronounced: "Wooooaaahhhhhl Shhhtreet" in Bernie-ese). In fact, on this date in 2004, 8,000 Sox fans participated in an on-line poll sponsored by The Boston Globe (which had yet to become the house organ of the Red Sox). Fans were asked to pick a title for a documentary on the benighted 2003 season (Grady Little and Tim Wakefield, please stop reading now). The title selected by fans was "Still We Believe: The Boston Red Sox Movie". However, some of the other choices were much more revealing of the mood of the fan base. How about this one: "The Ecstasy and the Agony" Or this: "Always the Bridesmaid" But the best of all may have been this: "I Know What You Did Last Summer, I Wish I Didn't Know What You Did Last Fall." Indeed.
