Carson Smith Began Throwing Program On Tuesday

UPDATE: Bullpen session on Sunday.
Injured Red Sox reliever Carson Smith (acquired from Seattle in the Wade Miley trade) began his rehab program yesterday by throwing out to 120 feet. Smith is suffering from a flexor-muscle strain that happened back on March 21st. There is no specific timetable for Smith's return to action—but realistic estimates are for a late May activation. It will be interesting to see if the back-end of the Red Sox bullpen can remain effective in Smith's absence—who was counted upon to be in the early part of the 7th-8th-9th inning "set-up" rotation.
