Sox Backtrack Again On Eduardo Rodriguez's Readiness

(AP Photo)
As we warned from the beginning, be very wary of how the Red Sox spin the Eduardo Rodriguez injury. First, they characterized it as "minor", then as a "subluxation of the patellar tendon on his right knee" that would only keep him out a few days. Now, we hear that E-Rod's return date is uncertain. Specifically, listen to what manager John Farrell said today, "We think he'll be ready to start the year, but I have to temper that with, he'll be out there when he's out of danger. We don't want to rush it to the point where, you're looking at his landing leg, that's got to be at full strength. The weight, the momentum coming down the mound, there's no timeframe for that first bullpen to happen, but we're still hopeful that he'll be ready for the start of the year." HOPEFUL? Next, he'll be DL'd for the first month. "Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard!"
