David Freese |
Nick Cafardo (of the Red Sox House Organ
Boston Globe) is hinting that
the team may have interest in free-agent third baseman David Freese. This, despite the fact that they are paying a King's Ransom to have
Pablo Sandoval man the 'hot corner'. The theory is that Freese could be a back-up option (though not a strict platoon option) against left-handed pitchers. Of course, Freese is used to a more meaningful role than 'occasional sub'—so it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to bring him to Fenway. Anyway, stay tuned.
