A Modest Proposal For The MLB Winter Meetings

So far, so good, Dave. Signing David Price (even at his price) was a needed "get" for this Red Sox rotation. Now, we can finally dispense with those inane "I'm The Ace" t-shirts from last Spring. Also, signing Chris Young as a fourth outfielder was a prudent move—but, more importantly, it can free up one young outfielder for a trade. That's what we suggest for the Winter Meetings, Dave. A trade that can bring a young, controllable starter into this rotation—making it even more formidable. We're thinking of guys like Shelby Miller, José Quintana, Carlos Carrasco, Danny Salazar or maybe even Chris Sale. In particular, the Cleveland Indians are desperate for outfield help—so dangling a Jackie Bradley, Jr. or Rusney Castillo in front of them (along with some prospects) might pry away a Carrasco or Salazar. In case you haven't noticed, your 2016 Carmine Hose need a first baseman as well. A real Wild Card trade might be to dislodge Joey Votto from Cincinnati —along with his big contract. But, hey, John Henry has all that soccer money to spare, right?
