'Half-A-Mill' Lackey Bests Lester In Ex-Red Sox Duel

After the series, they will again be "best buds"—or maybe we should say "best Budweisers". Anyway, there was no chicken or beer in the Cubbie clubhouse last night as John Lackey shut down the North Siders and Jon Lester 4-0. The Redbirds now take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five NLDS series. Lackey was masterful—reminding Red Sox fans of the guy who had so many key wins (including the final one) in the 2013 World Series Championship season. The big right-hander went 7 1/3 innings and gave up just two hits. Lester also went 7 1/3, but gave up three runs on five hits—including an 8th-inning solo shot by 27-year-old career minor-leaguer Thomas Pham.  In the immortal words of 'Half-A-Mill' Lackey, "For sure", they will match up again.
