The New York Post,
Yankee GM Brian Cashman tried to hire former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington soon after he was fired by the team. Apparently, Cherington was offered the Assistant GM post with
The Evil Ones—which he turned down. Said Cashman,
"I reached out to him. I have a lot of respect for him, his integrity and how he did his job." Cherington opted for a teaching position at Columbia University—but will surely re-enter the baseball world sooner rather than later. By the way, the Yankees promoted
another Red Sox alum—
Tim Naehring—to Vice President of Baseball Operations.
