Commish: No Fan Safety Measures This Year

Commissioner Rob Manfred stated today that he "does not expect" a sweeping MLB policy change on fan safety during the 2015 season. He did say that individual clubs are free to make their own changes. Said Manfred, "We are working on the fan protection issue—but making reactive moves would, I think, be a mistake." Fan safety has come to the forefront recently after two fans (Stephanie Wapenski and Tonya Carpenter) were severely injured by bat- and ball-related incidents at Fenway Park.
