Pesky Sox Bail Out Masterson; Beat Nats, 8-7

Masterson Delivers To Harper (Exclusive FenwayNation Photo)
Count this one as a 'gimmee'. The Red Sox had no business pulling out a win tonight, but—thanks to a hapless Nationals "defense"—they eeked out a crazy 8-7 win at Fenway. In the seventh-inning comeback, Washington made three errors and their pitchers hit two batters—allowing Boston to score three runs without the benefit of a hit. Earlier, Justin Masterson, ahead by a 5-1 score until the fifth, imploded and coughed up six runs. The offensive stars were Dustin Pedroia—(going 3-4 including his third home-run), and Brock Holt (2-4 with the go-ahead RBI). On the injury front, it looks as if the Red Sox may have dodged two bullets—with clean initial MRIs coming back on the knee of Xander Bogaerts and the foot of Pablo Sandoval.
