Fresh off his official signing with the Red Sox, Yoan Moncada was ranked by MLB.com as #9 overall on their 2015 Prospect Watch list. Boston laid out a total of $63 million to ink the 19-year old Cuban infielder—who will initially be assigned to one of the team's minor league clubs. He has already taken part in a workout with Boston's minor leaguers in Fort Myers. MLB.com characterized Moncada thusly, "He's a switch-hitter with electric bat speed who makes consistent hard contact from both sides of the plate. He could deliver a .280 average and 20-25 homers on an annual basis, and he also has the well above-average speed to be a significant basestealing threat...he looks like a star who will be worth the wait." Indeed.
