The Red Sox designated reliever Drake Britton for assignment—essentially to make room on the roster for newly-acquired Alexi Ogando. The 25-year old Waco, Texas native had a see-saw career at the lower levels of the Boston organization—although he performed very well in The Show. In 25 total games for the big club, Britton went 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA. It's probably best that the 6'2" 215-pounder latch on with another organization, as he burned a few bridges here. You may recall that he was stopped for going 113 MPH in a 45 MPH zone back in 2013—and charged with DUI. We wish him the best going forward.
