Giancarlo Stanton will sign an unprecedented 13-year, $325 million deal with the Miami Marlins. The pact reportedly includes a no-trade clause—but it
does offer the young superstar an opt-out provision after five years. Nevertheless, this appears to slam the door on any short-term acquisition of Stanton by teams like the Red Sox. Well, the idea was interesting while it lasted.
