Tigers Thought They Landed Miller From Sox

Andrew Miller
The New York Post's Joel Sherman reports that Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski thought he had secured the services of lefty reliever Andrew Miller at the trade deadline. In fact, Dombrowski says the Tigers had met the Red Sox demands in a potential deal. Reportedly, Sox GM Ben Cherington said he needed to check one more option—which turned into Miller to Baltimore for hurler Eduardo Rodriguez (who has been more than advertised since joining the Boston organization). Of course, Miller was originally the property of Detroit, before being dealt to the Marlins in the Miguel Cabrera deal. The Tigers had to be extra miffed when Miller shut their powerful lineup down in two of the three Orioles wins in the ALDS.
