Former Red Sox Hurler Ryan Dempster Retires

Ryan Dempster
He is Kevin Millar's best buddy. He does a wicked impersonation of Harry Caray. And, he saved the Red Sox $13.5 million last year. Those items—and the fact that he's retiring from baseball—are the things you need to know about Ryan Dempster. The 37-year old made his retirement official yesterday—ending a very good 16-year career for four teams, including the Red Sox. Dempster decided to sit out the final year of his Boston contract in 2014—saving the team $13.5 million. While he pitched for the 2013 World Champions, he did not make a start in the post-season run. During his year in Carmine Hose, Dempster was 8-9 with a 4.57 ERA—making 29 starts.
