Dodgers May Be Pursuing Jonathan Papelbon

According to a report by Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles. com, the Los Angeles Dodgers may be pursuing former Red Sox (and current Phillies) closer Jonathan Papelbon. The enigmatic pitcher has recently talked about wanting to go to a contender, but Magic Johnson and company would need to eat a big portion of his remaining salary (about $25 million) for the deal to work for Philly. If traded west, Papelbon would join a bevy of ex-Red Sox players already wearing 'Dodger Blue' (Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Hanley Ramirez, Tim Federowicz). Of course, the centerpiece of the 2011 mega-deal with the Dodgers—Nick Punto—now toils for the best team in baseball (the Oakland Athletics).
