Another Red Sox Prospect Is 'Catching' Fire

Just when you thought you could settle on Christian Vazquez as the 'Red Sox catcher of the future', the organization throws you a curve. An even more promising backstop prospect may be Blake Swihart—who is heating it up big time at AA Portland. The switch-hitter is batting .296 with 10 HRs. Swihart went 2-4 with a double last night. Some scouts have labeled him the best catching prospect in all of baseball—and the authoritative SoxProspects.com now places Swihart as the organization's #2 overall prospect—just behind the recently promoted Mookie Betts. We here at FenwayNation have been tracking Swihart's progress for a while (2013, 2014). As early as 2015, you may see Vazquez and Swihart as your catching tandem of the future.
