Happy Birthday To Sox Legend Rico Petrocelli

Red Sox great Rico Petrocelli turns 71 years old today. For those of us who recall the miracle year of 1967, the iconic image of Rico with his arms stretched over his head in victory is burned forever in our memory. Rico spent all 13 years of his great career in Carmine Hose—with probably his best year coming in 1969. In that campaign, Rico hit .297 with 40 HRs and 97 RBIs. His on-base percentage (under appreciated in those days) was .403. And his OPS was a stellar .992. Rico was also a two-time All-Star (1967, 1969), and famously hit two HRs in Game 6 of the 1967 World Series. Even late in his career he was a clutch performer—hitting .308 in the 1975 World Series. You can follow Rico's current activities through his website (petrocellisports.com). He also appears on Sirius/XM's MLB Network Radio every Saturday morning (8-10 AM). Happy birthday, Rico!
