Sox Finally Reach .500 On Late Rally Over Reds

It's taken a while in this "one-step-forward, two-steps-back" kind of season, but your Carmine Hose have finally reached .500. For perspective, I think we should all remember The Wolf's cautionary words in the garage scene in Pulp Fiction. After all, .500 is the essence of mediocrity. Nevertheless, taking both games from Cincinnati is a good thing—and it also keeps The Big Red Latrine winless at Fenway over a 39-year stretch. Last night's late-inning heroics came from A.J. Pierzynski (game-tying RBI) and Will Middlebrooks (game-winning RBI). David Ortiz and Mike Napoli (White House pronunciation: NA-POLE-EEE) also had solo RBIs to pull Boston even. Jake Peavy went six innings giving up three earned runs in the 4-3 win. Boston now heads out for a six-game road trip before returning home to face red-hot Detroit on May 16th.
