In the wake of the
Will Middlebrooks injury—and staring at a
Brock Holt Mini-Era—
the Red Sox signed veteran infielder Ryan Roberts today. Roberts—who sports more tattoos than every resident of Salem, NH
combined—will be available for tonight's game against the Rangers (wearing #7). Holt was optioned back to AAA Pawtucket and pitcher
Steven Wright was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Roberts on the 40-man roster. This is a good move—particularly if Middlebrooks is sidelined for more than 15 days.
