Obama: Sox Symbolized 'Resilience' of Boston

The Red Sox met President Barack Obama in the Rose Garden of the White House this morning and received congratulations for  their 2013 World Series Championship. The president said the team symbolized the resilience of the City of Boston in the wake of last April's Marathon Bombings. As with all of these ceremonies, there were the inevitable flubs—like the president referring to the Red Sox first baseman as Mike "Na-Pole-ee" and stating that Koji Uehara was "signed as an afterthought" (making John Henry visibly cringe). Nevertheless, it was a fun event. Oh, and apparently, only Jonny Gomes wore the Stars and Stripes blazer.
