Sox Face Former Prospect Sanchez In Game 1

Anibal Sanchez In His Boston Organization Days
So, now we know. It will be the Tabbys From Motown who invade Fenway Park for the American League Championship Series. While the Red Sox were 3-4 this year against Detroit, they outscored the Central Division Champs, 43-35—including a 20-4 blistering in the final tilt. The Tigers will send former Red Sox prospect Anibal Sanchez to the mound to face Jon Lester on Saturday night at 8:07 PM on FOX. Boston's Game 2 starter is still undetermined—although one source claims it will be Clay Buchholz, followed in Game 3 by John Lackey and Game 4 by Jake Peavy. Sanchez has flown a bit under the radar this year—despite leading the American League in ERA (2.57). He was traded to the Marlins in 2005 along with Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. The only time Sanchez has faced his old organization was back in 2006, when he gave up seven runs to the Red Sox.
