Boston Could Face A Bevy Of Ex-Sox Ahead

Depending on how things play out, the Red Sox could be facing a whole host of former players in the next two series. For example, if Oakland bests Detroit in Game 5 of their ALDS, no fewer than five key A's can claim to have worn Carmine Hose: Coco Crisp, Josh Reddick, Jed Lowrie, Brandon Moss and Bartolo Colon. And, if the Sox and Dodgers survive their respective LCS hurdles, Boston will greet the following former Red Sox players in the World Series: Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Nick Punto, and Josh Beckett (who would only be observing from the bench). And while Hanley Ramirez and Tim Federowicz never played for the Red Sox at the major league level, they were both drafted and groomed by the Boston organization. So, potentially at least, the Red Sox may have "seeded" a significant proportion of their upcoming opponents' rosters.
