According to multiple reports, the Red Sox are showing interest in a 24-year old right-hander who recently set the Japanese baseball record for 21 straight wins in a single season. Masahiro Tanaka—who plays for the Rakuten Eagles—broke a 56-year old mark by beating the Orix Buffaloes 6-2 last Friday night. He actually has 25 straight wins dating back to August of 2012. Carl Hubbell of the Giants owns the MLB mark with 24 straight wins across the 1936 and 1937 seasons. Boston, the Phillies and the Diamondbacks have all had scouts in attendance at recent Tanaka outings.
