Sox Suffer First Series Defeat; Fall, 3-2

In front of the smallest Fenway Park crowd in a decade (27,704), the Red Sox handed the Orioles their first signature one-run victory in a 3-2 loss Thursday. On a night when Alfredo Aceves was actually one of the steadiest of the Carmine Hose (5 innings, 2 earned runs), Boston lost its first series of 2013. It was the vaunted bullpen once again that spelled doom—as Clayton Mortensen, Andrew Miller and Koji Uehara all failed to hold the mighty Os in check. Alex Wilson made his MLB debut and pitched a clean ninth inning. Onto the Rays on Friday night.
