Iglesias Goes Yard Earlier This Spring |
Just when it seemed that
Jose Iglesias would be back in the minor leagues, fate stepped in.
Stephen Drew was hit in the head and is still suffering concussions symptoms.
Iglesias is now thrust into the role of Opening Day starting shortstop for the Boston Red Sox. When he heard about Drew's signing, he wasn't happy,
"I mean, it wasn't fun. I take that as a challenge. I prepared myself the best way possible to help this team win. I think that'll pay off." He has definitely looked more confident at the plate. Although his numbers are not great, he at least seems to be hitting the ball with more authority. In any event, the defensive phenom has the right mindset to succeed,
"I feel pretty good. I'm trying to stay positive, stay with my plan. Even if you don't have a good game, stay with it. When you give 100 percent every single day, you're going to be happy with yourself."
