John Henry, principal owner of the Boston Red Sox, said today that the team is not for sale. Meeting with reporters at the team's Spring Training home of Fort Myers, Florida, Henry said: "Tom and I have made a lot of money...We're determined to be successful. That hasn't changed...As long as we can do it, the three of us are committed to being here." Referring to charges that the Red Sox are driven by PR and ratings concerns, Henry went on: "People can say we're brand-oriented, revenue-oriented. The fact is, we're wins-losses oriented, and have been from Day 1. I have to laugh. ... It's ludicrous to say we signed any player since we've been here for PR purposes." For perspective, Henry also said he thinks Bobby Valentine is "a great manager". 'Nuf Ced.
