Swisher Is Sox Fallback To Failed Hamilton Bid

Do We Really Want This Bozo?
Get ready to overpay another marginal thritysomething. According to multiple reports, the Red Sox have eyed Nick Swisher as their "fallback plan" should they fail to sign Josh Hamilton. Frankly, we'd call it more of a "fall WAY-BACK plan". Honestly, we can't think of a guy we'd dislike more in a Red Sox uniform. Reportedly, Swisher—like Hamilton—is seeking a five- or six-year deal. Which five-year future would you prefer? The more time that passes, the more it becomes evident that the Red Sox will need to sign Hamilton to stay relevant with their fans—not to mention contend in the AL East.
