Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting that
the Red Sox are in "serious discussions" with free agent right-handed starter Ryan Dempster. Earlier reports suggested that
Boston was also focusing on Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse, Shaun Marcum, and Francisco Liriano. It appears now that the Red Sox are close to inking Dempster to a three-year pact. Dempster was less than awe-inspiring in his AL debut for the Rangers last year, going 7-3 with a 5.09 ERA. His career marks are 124-124 with a 4.33 ERA over 15 seasons.
