Baker's Dozin' |
Eminently forgettable right-handed starter
Scott Baker is on the Red Sox radar screen. According to multiple reports, the 31-year old Minnesota hurler is being pursued by Boston, Texas, the Cubs as well as the Twins. Baker is coming off Tommy John surgery, and sports a career ERA of 4.15 and a 1.264 WHIP over seven seasons. He's thrown 200 innings just once (in 2009) when he won 15 games. We know it's a bad yardstick to measure a pitcher by, but every time we had to face Baker, we felt pretty good about a win. In fact, for his career he is 6-5 with a 4.41 ERA, and a WHIP of 1.356 against the Red Sox. This doesn't excite us.
