Josh Johnson (Miami Herald) |
According to a report on ESPN Boston.com,
the Red Sox are now focusing their sights on starting pitching (duh!) and have interest in either Josh Johnson or Anibal Sanchez of the Marlins—and possibly both. Johnson and Sanchez have had disappointing seasons with the Fish, but each one continues to have a huge upside. Sanchez, of course, was dealt by Boston (along with Hanley Ramirez) for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. Johnson, only a short while back, was considered among the elite pitchers in baseball. There's no word as to whether one or both of the Lester/Beckett tandem would be shipped to Miami—but you have to think the Marlins would demand some sort of pitching back (Anthony Ranaudo or Matt Barnes?). Stay tuned, Nation!
