Crawford Situation Gets More Muddled Today

Two elements of 'The Carl Crawford Saga' emerged today that added intrigue to this ongoing, maddening drama. As CSNNE's Sean McAdam points out, Carl Crawford:

• Reiterated that he'd prefer to have Tommy John surgery on his elbow sooner rather than later—particularly if the Red Sox are out of contention;

• Heard for the first time today that the Red Sox medical staff want him to have every fourth day off to preserve his injured elbow. Today! Crawford rightly characterized this as "embarrassing". No kidding. He's out of Saturday's lineup.

When it was pointed out to Bobby Valentine that Crawford played in six straight games upon his return to the team, the manager called it a "no-no" on his part—something that would not happen again. What?! This team, from the very top to the very bottom, is a dysfunctional mess—unworthy of the greatest fan base in the world. Shame, shame, shame.
