Kemp Injury May Speed Youk Trade To Dodgers

Dodger #1 Prospect Zach Lee
News that All-World "Shoulda Been 2011 MVP" Matt Kemp was back on the DL has reportedly moved a trade of Kevin Youkilis to the front-burner. Kemp's injury and the fact that current first baseman James Loney is producing offensively at a Little League level makes acquisition of Youkilis more likely—and sooner rather than later. The Dodgers have a big need that Youk could satisfy and the Red Sox are motivated to get Will Middlebrooks in the lineup every day—these are circumstances that make for quick deals. The big question is whether the Red Sox get a major league level player/pitcher in return or go for a bevy of prospects. The Dodgers have Andy Van Slyke's son Scott (OF) who is hitting a robust .154 through 26 at-bats in The Show this year. But they also have a boatload of pitching prospects that might be attractive to BenCher—like Zach Lee, Nathan Eovaldi, Allen Webster, Chris Withrow, Ethan Martin and Shawn Tolleson. Let the dealing begin!
