Carl Crawford |
According to ESPNBoston's Joe McDonald
Carl Crawford will start a rehab assignment this Saturday in the Gulf Coast League. Because of the delicacy of his injury (a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in the elbow), he is slated to engage in DH duties only at the start. Assuming a three-week rehab schedule, he should be back in left field at Fenway shortly after the All-Star break. When both Crawford and Ellsbury finally return, the Red Sox will face a serious over-crowding problem in the outfield. They will need to make some tough decisions on
Daniel Nava,
Ryan Kalish,
Ryan Sweeney,
Scott Podsednik,
Cody Ross and
Darnell McDonald.
