Boston 'Socks' It To 'Shoeless O', Rampages Past Tito's Tribe, 12-5
After Cleveland relief pitcher Oliver Perez needed some serious shoe repairs on the mound, the Red Sox pummeled the lefty as part of a six-run fifth inning on their way to a 12-5 win. The big blow was a three-run shot off the bat of Sandy Leon—and the Red sox also got two additional home runs in the game from J.D. Martinez. Boston had trailed 3-0, before surging past the Tribe with a total of 13 hits. Others who contributed to the onslaught were: Mookie Betts (2-5, 2 Rs, RBI); Rafael Devers (1-5, R, RBI); Xander Bogaerts (2-5, 2 R, RBI); Michael Chavis (2-3); Brock Holt (104, 2 R, RBI) and Jackie Bradley, Jr. (2-3, R, 2 RBIs). Rick Porcello recovered from some early trouble to go 6.2 solid innings—giving up three earned runs. The win keeps Boston 6.5 games back of The Evil Ones with a 29-25 record.
