Red Sox Skunked For Second Straight Night, Lose Again To Oakland, 1-0

This is beginning to border on the ridiculous. The Red Sox are now 1-5 on the 2019 season, after being shut out for the second straight night in Oakland—this time, 1-0. Chris Sale gave up a first-inning home run that stood up for the Athletics—as the Red Sox offense sputtered once again. Sale recovered well, going six innings and giving up just three hits. But the lefty's velocity was again down and his command was spotty. The game might have turned in the ninth inning, but Xander Bogaerts was cut down trying to stretch a double into a triple. Given the circumstances, you can't fault Bogaerts for being aggressive, but the play just piled more frustration on an already frustrating road trip. Nathan Eovaldi will try to reverse this West Coast curse tonight.
