Yankees Snookered Out Of Patrick Corbin By Nats, May Now Go After Eovaldi

Ah, what a great way to start a Tuesday evening! The Yankees got the Patrick Corbin 'rug' pulled right out from under them by the Washington Nationals this afternoon. According to multiple reports, Washington signed Corbin (pending physicals) to a six-year, $140 million deal (that's $23.33 million per year for those of you who are cipher-impaired). It had been thought that the Phillies were the culprits in keeping the free-agent lefty starter out of Baghdad-By-The-Hudson, but it was the Nats who sweetened the New York offer of five years with an extra year. Corbin went 11-7 with a 3.15 ERA for Arizona in 2018. He struck out 246 batters in exactly 200 innings pitched. The only downside we can see is that the Yankees will now go full bore after Nathan Eovaldi—heightening the need for the Red Sox to sign him ASAP. Stay tuned!
