After Three Seasons In Booth, Tim Neverett Leaving Red Sox Radio Broadcast

Tim Neverett, who served for the last three seasons as the "sidekick" of long-time play-by-play guy Joe Castiglione, is leaving the Red Sox broadcast team. Entercom—the owner of the WEEI Sports Radio Network— is immediately beginning a (probably frantic) search for a replacement—given that Opening Day is just 107 days away. Said an Entercom spokesperson, "We thank Tim for his efforts and contributions over the years. He’s going out on top after the Red Sox championship season. We wish Tim the best in his future endeavors." Hmmm. Sounds kind of fishy to us. Our guess is that Neverett was tired of playing "second fiddle" to Castiglione—after being the primary play-by-play guy in Pittsburgh for six years before coming back to his native New England. Who knows, maybe Dave O'Brien will head back to the radio booth, and John Henry will be able to lure back the incredibly popular Don Orsillo from San Diego to re-enter the NESN booth?
