Red Sox Lose Front Office Honcho Allard Baird To New York Metropolitans

You probably only vaguely know of him—if you know him at all. But for the past twelve years, Allard Baird has toiled in the front off of the Red Sox as a Vice President (through multiple regime changes). Oh yeah, Baird is a baseball survivor. He has a rich history of front-office experience—including six (mostly woeful) years as General Manager of the Kansas City Royals. Now, it appears that the freshly-minted GM of the New York Metropolitans (Brodie Van Wagenen) has hired Baird away from Jersey Street (AKA Yawkey Way). According to multiple reports, Baird will become the new Vice President of scouting and player development in Flushing Meadows.
