POLL: Overwhelming Majority Do Not Want To Re-Sign Closer Craig Kimbrel

Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel has clearly struggled mightily during the 2018 postseason. He's pitched 5.1 innings in this year's playoffs and has given up six hits and five earned runs—also walking five and hitting two batters. His ERA in the ALDS was 11.57 and is 6.00 so far in the ALCS. Not exactly dominant. Kimbrel's contract is up after this year (he makes $13,000,000). Very early voting in our latest FenwayNation Poll shows that more than four readers in five (82%) do not want the Red Sox to re-sign their closer—the argument being that he has lost a lot, like getting 30 fewer strikeouts this year than last in about the same number of innings. As the chart shows, just 18% take the opposite view—favoring re-signing Kimbrel, arguing that, despite his obvious struggles, he's still an elite closer. You can still vote in the poll HERE.
