Our ALDS Prediction: The Good Guys Win In Five, The Evil Ones Go Golfing

Tonight, for the first time ever, the Red Sox and Yankees meet in a post-season series that does not lead to a berth in the World Series. Previously, they either met in an ALCS or in a one-game (1978) or two-game (1949) playoff to reach The Fall Classic. Let's be honest, these two teams are very evenly-matched. Both have lineups with tremendous firepower. Both also have solid starting rotations—although the Red Sox perhaps have a slight edge. And clearly, The Pinstriped Posers have the edge in the bullpen. Overall, the Red Sox seem to have a more talented bench corps—but it's close. So, when two teams match-up so closely, it's atmospherics that usually prevail. Having an extra home game—and the added mojo that brings—should tip this series to the Red Sox. So, the good guys advance to the ALCS and The Evil Ones research Winter tee times. Red Sox in five.
