FenwayNation Bestows 2018 'First Citizen' Award On OF Jackie Bradley, Jr.

The editors of FenwayNation have named Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. as their 2018 First Citizen. The award is given each year to that Red Sox player who demonstrates service to the Greater Boston community. For the past three years, JBJ has served as Captain of the Red Sox Scholars program—acting as an advocate and ambassador. Jackie's wife, Erin, has participated in the program's interview process and both have attended the Back to School shopping event each August. During every Friday home game, Jackie hosts a Red Sox Scholar. The Scholar and guests watch the Red Sox take batting practice and meet Jackie prior to the game. In previous years, the award has gone to: Bill Mueller, Tim Wakefield, Curt Schilling, Mike Timlin, Kevin Youkilis, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett, David Ortiz, Craig Breslow, Shane Victorino, Dustin Pedroia, Brock Holt and Pablo Sandoval. Congratulations, Jackie, on being named our 2018 First Citizen.
