The last time your Carmine Hose were 50 games over .500 it was 1946—72 years ago. This is the kind of historic territory this 2018 Red Sox team is entering. That 1946 team featured names like Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr—along with great players like Dom DiMaggio and Johnny Pesky. This newest edition features MVP contenders Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez and terrific young stars like Andrew Benintendi and Rafael Devers. Currently, they are 85-35 (the best in MLB)—with a solid 9.5 game lead over The Evil Empire. Their 85 wins are the most for any Red Sox team ever through 119 games. Boston is 43-20 on the road —ten more wins that The Pinstriped Posers have away from The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. They are 43-15 against AL East, 58-8 when scoring first, and an astounding 29-5 in day games. This month? They are a sick 10-1 in August. This is rarefied territory, folks. Maybe 72 years from now, they will be waxing poetic about this group of players from The Olde Towne Team.
