Multiple reports suggest that the Red Sox are in
all-out pursuit of another "elite" arm for their bullpen. Given the paucity of port-siders in the 'pen, some of their focus is on lefties like Baltimore's
Zach Britton. But, they are
also looking at high-performing righties like Miami's
Kyle Barraclough and Colorado's
Wade Davis or
Adam Ottavino (
Northeastern University's all-time strikeout leader). Britton, who got the win over
The Evil Ones last night, has been spotty in his return from off-season Achilles tendon surgery (4.26 ERA over 12.2 innings of work). Nevertheless, he has the potential to be dominant again—and also serve as a bulwark against the possible free-agency departure of
Craig Kimbrel this coming off-season. Clearly, a move like this could happen at any moment. Stay tuned.
