Red Sox Win Again, 5-3 Over Orioles, Are Beginning To Enter Historic Territory

After last night's 5-3 win over the hapless Orioles, here are some interesting tid-bits on your 2018 Carmine Hose (courtesy of the good folks from @SoxNotes): "The Red Sox’ 71 wins are their most ever through the first 102 games of a season. Boston is 40 games above .500 (71-31) for the first time since the 1949 club was a season-best 96-56." Rick Porcello delivered six shutout innings, while Andrew Benintendi (2 RBIs) and Mitch Moreland (solo HR) supplied most of the offense in the victory that moved Boston a full six games ahead of the The Bronx Embalmers in the American League East. 'Pretty Ricky' got his 12th win of the year, striking out six Birds, and walking just one—lowering his ERA to 3.93. Both Brandon Workman and Craig Kimbrel had uncharacteristic "hiccups" in relief, but it all ended well at Camden Yards. The "cherry" on top of the victory was the 7-6 defeat of The Evil Ones at the hands of the mighty Rays.
