'Pearce'-Ing Through The Hearts Of The Toronto Blue Jays—Starting Thursday

(Getty Images)
Just twelve days ago, Steve Pearce was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. The 35-year-old 1B/DH was doing OK north of the border—hitting .291 with 4 HRs and 16 RBIs in just 26 games played. Since the trade that brought him to Boston, Pearce is hitting .458 with 1 HR (last night) and 5 RBIs—and an OPS of 1.231. It's a certified phenomenon. Now, on Thursday, his old club will come into Fenway to marvel at the transformation of their former colleague. The Blue Jays are currently seven games under .500, and 20.5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East. Going into tonight's action against the Braves, Toronto has lost six out of their last ten—and two straight. It will be interesting to see how many games Alex Cora will let Pearce play against his old mates.
