A bevy of reports have former Red Sox 3B
Adrian Beltre being discussed in
multiple trade scenarios with just one day left to make deals. The Braves, Astros, Indians and Red Sox have been the teams most notably mentioned. However, Beltre has apparently
explicitly said he
would waive his no-trade clause to come back to Boston—where he played for one stellar season in 2010 (.321, 28 HRs, 49 2Bs, 102 RBIs). As far as we can tell, he has not made similar waiver comments for the other three clubs in the mix. Beltre is 39-year-old and in the last year of his contract with the Rangers. With
Rafael Devers on the DL (and spotty in his production this year), Beltre could be a pivotal piece in a championship drive. So far in this injury-shortened season, Beltre is hitting .292 with 5 HRs in just 73 games.
