At one point,
Andrew Benintendi had reach base safely in 10 consecutive plate appearances. The Red Sox left-fielder went 4-5 on Sunday, scoring two runs in
Boston's 7-4 win over Kansas City. The win ended the road trip on a 7-2 note—and maintained Boston's two-game edge in the American League East.
Mitch Moreland,
Xander Bogaerts and
Eduardo Nunez each had two RBIs in the 14-hit Red Sox onslaught.
Rick Porcello pitched just OK—although he miraculously got out of a second-and-third, no-out jam in the seventh. The righty went seven innings, giving up three earned runs—with nine hits and nine strikeouts.
Steve Pearce continued his hot hitting in
Carmine Hose—going 2-2 and knocking in a run. Boston returns home for seven games prior to the All-Star Break.
