Former Red Sox SS (and current San Diego coach)
Glenn Hoffman got a surprise recently. After yielding his uniform number 30 to new Padre
Eric Hosmer, he received
a Rolex watch as compensation. Not bad. Especially when you consider some other "exchanges" by former Red Sox players. For example,
Josh Reddick gave up his number to
Billy Butler for a lousy
X-box—not even a
PlayStation 4! But, then again, when former Boston hurler
John Lackey joined the St. Louis Cardinals in 2014, he took
Pat Neshek's uniform number 41—but he gave the relief pitcher an autographed
Babe Ruth baseball.
