the pursuit of free-agent first-baseman Carlos Santana may be down to the Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. It's been suggested by some that because of Philadelphia's unusual payroll flexibility, agents are using them as a foil to bid up prices to places of
real interest—like Boston. It's hard to imagine that Santana would want to go to a dismal franchise like the Phillies. Stay tuned.
