What Might Have Been If Posada Made A Better Throw

Who knows? If Jorge Posada had been a little quicker with his throw to second base, or Dave Roberts had gotten a little poorer jump, this weekend's three-game set in the Bronx might have been viewed very differently. Of course, when "The Steal" was successful, it set off a chain of events (begun, it should be noted, with Bill Mueller's clutch single) that has lead to three World Series Championships for Boston in the last twelve years. But, if The Twilight Zone were still on the air, an intriguing episode could explore an alternative series of events: The Yankees sweeping us in four games in the 2004 ALCS, an epic depression in The Nation after two straight ALCS losses to The Evil Empire, the possible dismantling of the Red Sox roster, several more years of endless "Bambino Curse" talk. Yikes! Thank you Mr. Roberts!
